Goodbye Bottles!

We have been really bad about breaking Connor from his bottle. He was doing really well when he first turned one and he would only drink water from it. Then he had the flu and we had to keep him hydrated and he only wanted his bottle. After that he refused to take water in his bottle and wouldn't sleep without it.  So we just limited him to having it at night and for naps.  Well this whole week he has been bottle free!! We have been wanting to do it sooner but it took him awhile to adjust to living with our families and going back and forth between the two houses.  We asked my mom what the best way to break him was and she said to just take it away. Sunday was the first day without it and he fell  asleep by me rocking him, that night it took about 40 mins to get him to sleep but now he is usually asleep in like 15! Naps are a little harder because he fights it till the last min but he is getting better! It is so hard to believe how big he is!!

Employment..

Adam started a job doing security at Deibold last Wed.  It isn't his favorite job but we are so grateful that he has work! He works in the afternoons during the week and days during the weekend. It is hard that he has off Tues and Wed because that means he isn't able to go to church. The job is a little boring and we were hoping to find something better for him since he is out of college but it is a blessing that it will keep us from draining out bank account.

He ended up not getting the job that he went down to KY for but they had another post that night when we got home that he applied for. He had an interview yesterday on the phone. It was cool because before he even started they told him the top people would have to take a test and that he already made arrangments for Adam to take it by Cincinatti since it is the side of Ky by us (4 hours away is way better than 8).  Needless to say, they called him back an hour after his interview to tell him they wanted him to test,  he goes this Tues. He is only against 2 other people. Hopefully this is the job that the Lord has planned for us!! IF not, then I guess we need to keep being patient and have faith that there is a better one coming soon!

Road trip to Kentucky,

Adam had an interview in Paducah KY the Monday after Father's day. I was driving down with him because it was 9 hours away! We had to leave around 3 on Father's day.  We left Connor to stay with my family.  It was hard because this was the first time that I was ever away from him over night.  The trip there wasn't too bad at all. Time went pretty quickly and even at 9 it didn't seem that late because the sun was still shining! We weren't planning on getting to the hotel until 12, but boy did we have a nice surprise! The western part of the state is in central time! We got to the hotel a little after 11. I only had one little break down and cried when my mom said that Connor was asleep.  It just made me sad that I wasn't there when he fell asleep and I wouldn't see him all of the next day. It was so nice because we were both up by 8 and felt great! We ate breakfast in the hotel and were on our way to his interview.

Adam looked so handsome:

While I was waiting for him to get done I drove around the city and spent some time at wal-mart.  As soon as he was done we were back on the road. What should have only been a 7 1/2 hour drive turned into 9 1/2 because of all the traffic.  For an hour and a half we were at stand still traffic. The drivers were horrible that day too.  I feel asleep for a few mins and woke up to a car almost merging into us! I tried to go back to sleep a few hours later and it happened again! That did it, scared me to death, I gave up sleeping the rest of the trip. We finally made it home close to 10 that night! Man, we were so ready for bed! Connor ended up falling asleep in bed with us!

Us in the traffic jam and then Cincinnati welcome back to Ohio!

Father's Day

Adam and I were staying at his families house the weekend of father's day.  The sat before we went to brunch at Bob Evan's and then later that day we went fishing. We started out with Connor there but that didn't last long. It was too hot and there wasn't much that kept his attention. I ended up driving him back home and he hung out with his Nanny.  Everyone had a pretty fun time, the fish were really little and almost everyone caught some.  Mason caught at least 15 fish, it felt like every time he put his hook in the water within seconds he would have a fish.  I only caught 2, the one fell off of the hook before i could reel it up all the way and the other one, the poor fish was caught under neath his gill! Adam only caught one and it fell of the hook as well. We were sharing a pole so I think we had the wrong type of hook  or something.  Later that night we just relaxed around home and played Blockus.

Sunday morning we went to church and they had really good talks.  It was nice because Nanny took Connor during Sunday school so I was able to stay in all of class. During RS he was such an angel.  He played with his toys and only got fussy the last 5 mins. Of course it helped that I gave him a sucker.  Adam got a bottle of rootbeer and popcorn for Father's day and then bc he was the youngest dad in the ward he got a 2 litter bottle as well.

After church we went home and started to get things ready for dinner. My family came down and we had all sorts of food. The men all had steak (well Adam's dad had fish) :) IT was funny bc Ken and Larry was willing to cook all the steak but Adam wanted to do his own. I guess if that is what he wanted then he should be allowed since it was his day!  We weren't able to stay long bc Adam and I needed to get on the road to head to KY!

Overall I think that Adam had a good day! Same with our dads!

Chuck-E Cheese

Both Adam and my families got together for our siblings to play together at Chuck-E cheese and they had a blast. Here are some of the pictures :) Afterward we went to eat. We went two different times.. but I am just putting all the pics together.

Mother's Day

This mother's day was a lot of fun! Connor is at the stage where he is beginning to learn how to express his love, he was able to give me kisses and hugs.  We started the day out right by going to church.  It was so special to hear the primary kids sing (it feels like it has been forever since the last two yrs we were in a student married ward).  Connor was in desperate need of a nap so we left church early and put him to sleep.  It was nice because Adam and I also fit in a nap too.  My parents had invited over the Jones family so that we could see Adam's mom.  Both of my grandma's came over for dinner (and of course so did grandpa). The guys were in charge of making dinner, and they went all out.  Dad made a ton of food (BBQ chicken, pasta salad, spinach, Broccoli and cheese, etc) and the Jones brought lots of desserts (dad also made chocolate cheesecake) YUM! It was nice getting to spend the day visiting and eating good food with family.  After everyone left we walked over to my Grandma's for cake.  Aunt Sue bought cake for everyone, she also got me and my mom a hanging flower plant, which is really pretty!  I got a gift card, phase 10 masters and perfume from my in-laws.  Adam and i didn't exchange gifts since we are currently still looking for a job but he gave me the day off from changing Connor's diapers!

The day reminded me how lucky I am to be a mother and to be blessed with my little Connor and all the hardships, experiences and pure joy of motherhood.  I am grateful to have my wonderful mom, an awesome MIL and two great grandmas!

Easter 2011

This is a really late post about our Easter.  We spent the day with Adam's family.  They celebrate Easter on Sat night.  The night before Easter Adam and I hid candy filled eggs for his siblings and Connor to find.  We found some pretty good spots that they needed help finding them all. Connor had a lot of fun just shaking  his eggs together and listening to the sounds they made.  It was such a great surprise for him when he realized that they were filled with candy. His mom and dad then brought all the baskets down, Connor loved his and got a singing mickey mouse. On Easter morning we went to church, had a huge dinner and then spent the evening hanging around watching movies and playing games as a family.

Here are pictures from Adam's house:

We celebrated Easter a week late with my family.  It was actually really nice because I was able to spend the day with my older siblings.  Shawn and his family came over Sat night and we had dinner and desserts.  It was good to spend time with him.  The next day my sister Athena and her 3 kids came over for an Easter dinner. It was nice to get to have another Easter dinner with all the yummy foods.  It was neat because this was the first time that I was able to meet her 4 month old Declan. All of the kids had a ton of fun visiting together.  After they left we did an egg hunt in our living room and the kids came in one by one looking for there eggs. We hid the eggs with my dad.  Adam found a couple of good spots that stumped the older kids.  Connor got a ton of summer outfits :)

Here are the pics form Easter with my family:

Groupon

One of the things that we have discovered while we are in Ohio is Groupon.  This is such an amazing site that shows you deals and discounts for your local area! Here is an example of how awesome it is.. There is a mini golf place by my house and usually a game of mini golf is 6.50, each token for the batting cage is 1.00 (so 7.00 for 7 tokens) and to ride the goat carts it costs 4.50 per ride which all together equals 18.00.  Since we bought a deal on Groupon we got all of that for 10.00 so a date night would cost 20.00. Wrong, they give you random 10.00 off coupons just for using there site!! We paid 10.00 for the two of us to do all of the above!!

Needless to say, tonight is going to be a really fun date night for us and it is wonderful knowing we paid 1/4 of the price! Add that to free babysitting by my mom and free dinner thanks to a gift card from my MIL it equals an amazing night filled with amazing deals!! :)
