Count Your Blessings

This year it was so common seeing everyone putting up thankful statuses everyday in Nov leading up to the Thanksgiving. I decided I would just post the 25 top things that I am grateful for in a blog, that way I can go back and read over it a lot easier!

1. My husband. I am so very lucky to have a wonderful companion to be with me in this life and all eternity. He makes me a better person, is a wonderful father and husband, is loving and patient, and makes me beyond happy.
2. Connor, what a privilege it is to be the mother to that sweet, kind, fun little boy!
3. My education, even though I am not working I am so glad that I got my degree and the fact that I am an LSW. I love the fact that I have this license to fall back on if ever needed, and the the things that I have learned becoming a social worker.
4. Being a stay home mom! What more explanation does this need? I get to spend everyday taking care of my sweet baby... best thing in the world!
5. My sisters. I have the best sisters anyone could ask for, they have been there through out my entire life as some of my best friends. It is so amazing to watch them as they grow up and to see the women and young women that they are becoming! (ha, that makes me sound so old!)
6. My dad. I am thankful for all of the sacrifices and many long hours of work that he has put in over the years! As long as I can remember he has worked at least 2 jobs so that my mom could stay home with us.. that is a  man that loves his family!
7. My In-laws. I am so lucky to have such amazing in laws. I love Adam's family as my own. It has been great getting to live with them over the summer and having to chance to get to know them better.
8. The Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, even this is number 8 on my list it really ranks much higher. Without it, my life would have no meaning or direction!
9. The Book of Mormon, whose words bear a sweet and powerful testimony to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am so Thankful for all the sacrifices that have been made by great people so that I can have my own copy sitting in my home to read and ponder whenever I want.
10. Adam's job, this year it has been hard finding a job and the one that Adam has in Ky isn't the ideal job but  at the same time this is where the Lord wants us and Adam is still getting experience built up!
11. Primary, I am thankful for the chance that I get to work in the primary and serve the sweet 6 yr old class.
12. Beautiful weather, which to me includes all 4 seasons. Yes, I love the sunshine, snow and rain storms!
13. My brothers, yes sometimes they absolutely drive me crazy, but they are some of the funniest people at times. I love the times where spent hours playing Tripoly and I can't get over the face that all 3 of my younger brothers are the perfect, seriously, uncles.
14. Crafts, I am thankful for the fact that there are so many cheap crafts that are out there that are both fun and easy to make.
15. My grandparents. All of them are wonderful examples to me! My grandma and grandpa are the perfect example of righteous living, they are humble, read the BOM and pray often, are service oriented and are so full love.  My other grandma is also a great example to me. She is willing to help out those that are in need, has a very funny personality and is such a kind lady. This past Oct. my grandpa passed away, but I will always be thankful for the wonderful man he was.
16. Living in the Latter days, how lucky are we to live where we have so much modern technology to help us?
17. My birthday! Haha, and my mom. During her pregnancy with me she gained 100 lbs, was bed rested and had a few cracked ribs.. and she still loved me ;) Seriously, I am so thankful for the close relationship that I have with my mom, the friendship and love that we have is amazing.
18. Netflix, I know this sounds silly, but without all the great kids shows I don't know how we'd deal with some of Connor's emotions.
19. Friends, both old and new!
20. My Savior and His Atonement! There is no way I can express my gratitude for Him!
21. Visiting Teaching, I am so thankful for this program and the blessing it is to get to know and love those sisters in my ward!
22.Car Trips, we are so blessed that Connor handles the 8 hour car trip to Ohio like a champ... almost every time!
23. The fact that my and Adam's families live so close, and are friends!
24. Black Friday, budgets, and learning to spend money extremely wisely.
25. Extended Family, I am so grateful that we were able to spend this Thanksgiving with almost 50 family members!

It's Mommy's Birthday... Shout HOrraY!

Yes, I actually Kept seeing this song to Connor all day. I had a wonderful 24th Birthday yesterday! I spent time with my little one during the day, watching movies and playing together. Adam came home for lunch and I didn't even have to cook because the night before I made enough soup for 2 meals. I had a nice little suprise, my friends from church made me cupcakes and brought them over to me, they sang "happy birthday". It was very sweet :)

That night when Adam got home I was just finishing up getting ready for our date that night. Before we went out Adam and Connor gave me some presents! I got a pair of Old Navy jeans, Viva La Juicy perfume and a bath set that smells like spiced gingerbread! I got birthday money from family back home that I am going to use to but a camcorder! So excited for that!

Adam and I were able to go out to Olive Garden for dinner kid free! My friend, Erin, babysat Connor. He loved going over there to play with her kids. When we went to pick him up he wanted to stay and when I told him we had to go because it was time to for bed, he climbed right into their bed and pulled up the blankets under his chin.  Dinner was great, it was so perfect to sit and talk, just the two of us and not have to worry about entertaining Connor until the food came.

We came home and had cake. Yes, my sweet husband baked me a cake! Of course, Mr Connor was there to help me blow out the candles :) Once the little one was in bed we watched the movie "Just Go with It" from redbox. It was a movie I would only watch once but some parts were really funny!

It was a wonderful Birthday! I felt very loved and am looking forward to all the great things that will come during my 24th year of life :)

Crafty Saturday

In the past few weeks I have found a ton of awesome craft ideas on Pinterest! I have been dying to get to Hobby Lobby to pick up some material but we are on a strict budget so it will have to wait a little while. Unfortumitally, my favorite pair of jeans got a hole in the upper leg last week. I was debating on throwing them out or saving them for the material. Luckily, I was in the mood to review all the items I had pinned and I ran across a great way to use up the material!

Car tracks for Connor's Hot wheels!

This was the easiest project ever (eventually I will need to sew the edges but for now they are perfect)! I did it in the morning and he was playing with them an hour later! The best part is he absolutely LOVES it! He had a great time playing with Daddy. Plus this whole week he will go and dig them out of the toy box with his cars to play with!

Our big boy

Connor is growing up so fast! The things he is catching on to and picking up are so cute. Yesterday we were in the cry room for stake conference and he was playing with a boy, when the kid took a toy from Connor he yelled no, no, no at him all the while shaking his finger.  Ha, guess he picked up on that one from his parents.

He is really big into cleaning now. Whenever he spills something he grabs the nearest napkin or towel to him and starts scrubbing it up. He is awesome at helping to pick up his toys. Usually, all I have to do is ask him to help me clean up and he will start picking up toys, all with a smile (well, again, usually). He loves to sit up on the counter and watch me wash the dishes, I haven't been brave enough to let him play in the water.  The dishwasher is another story. He helps with every dish he can. He puts the ones away when he can reach and hands me the dishes that go up high. He finally now understands that after the clean ones come out we leave the dirty ones in.  Every meal he helps me set the table. It started out as a way to distract him from whining because the food isn't ready but now, he loves to do it and always has to put the forks right on the plates.

We have been really working on saying family prayer together every night before time. Last night Connor just melt both of our hearts! I told him it was time to say prayer and he ran over to the couch, knelt down, folded him arms and laid his head down on the couch.  He stays still during the whole prayer and says, "Yay" after it is over.  Meal time prayers are a little hard sometimes because he gets so excited to eat his food!

Halloween weekend fun

Halloween weekend was very fun this year! Mostly, for the fact that it was our first weekend back together in our own home in over a month!! Secondly, my in-laws were in town so it was fun to spend the weekend with them!

Friday afternoon we made it back home and by time we did our unpacking and got settled back in our place it was dinner time.  We ordered pizza and then went grocery shopping. When we got back we spent some time hanging out together.

Saturday was a much more eventful day! We woke up in the morning and while everyone was getting ready I made chilli for our ward activity later that night. We then all went to the Wurth Farm and went on a hay ride. It was fun to be outdoors and Connor was in heaven with all the pumpkins, squash and gourds that were used as decorations!

The hayride went through a large field were they had Halloween decorations set up and then it lead us to cows and their babies. Connor was very excited to see them and kept pointing and making sure that his daddy was looking at them.  Next up on the ride was the pumpkin patch! Boy, was it funny watching Connor! He tried to pick up, roll and pull pumpkins that were bigger than him! It was hard taking pictures of him because he was all over the place running from pumpkin to pumpkin!!

After we made a quick Walmart run for candy, we were off to a picnic in the park! Connor was asleep the minute we left the farm and even slept straight through me carrying him in the store and being put back in his car seat! Poor thing must have been worn out! As soon as we got to the park and he noticed the playground he was wide awake and not really in the mood to eat his lunch because he wanted to just go play!

Next, the kids carved a pumpkin and Connor used markers to color his pumpkin. We got him a little baby one because we knew he would want to carry it around!

Our ward trunk or treat was the last activity of the night! We had a chilli cook off, games, a costume parade, and of course the actual trunk or treating. Connor and all of the kids had a lot of fun!
Playing games with Daddy

Face painting

Fishing for candy

Cupcake walk

They won!

Sunday we went to church and it was nice to be back in our home ward again. The Paducah ward is so very,, very friendly! Even only being here for a couple of months it is wonderful that it already feels like home.  Adam's family had to take off after sacrament to start the long drive back to Ohio.  It was good after church to finally take a Sunday afternoon nap!! That night family time with just the three of us was PERFECT!! After our little munchkin went to sleep, Adam and I finally was able to carve our pumpkin!

Monday as we were cleaning the house, Connor and I were jamming out and dancing around to the Halloween station on Pandora! SO much fun! That kid gets a kick out of watching me dance around the kitchen while I am doing my chores. We weren't planning on taking Connor trick or treating that night, but we found on-line about this cool area to go. They block off the road and alot of the houses go all out with decorations! It was fun.  That night Adam and I enjoyed making butter beer and had caramel apples. We wanted to watch a Halloween movie but the only thing that we could find on netflix was Vampire Diaries, haha which is now our new favorite show!

Alice in Wonderland

Yum! Butter Beer!
